Want to have more than one round with your lady of the night? I can help you with that sonny.”

Character Name: Ayren Grimwald
Character Description:
Ayren Grimwald is a Norden standing at 6'2", with a lean, hardened physique shaped by years of labor, combat, and survival in unforgiving environments. His blond hair is kept short and deliberately messy, giving him a rough appearance that contrasts with his otherwise refined manner.His eyes are a pale, icy blue, narrow and slightly fox-like, giving him a naturally predatory gaze. Ayren rarely needs to raise his voice; a simple stare is often enough to make those around him uncomfortable.He is clean-shaven, maintaining a sharp and almost aristocratic appearance. Dark Nordic-style tattoos cover both shoulders and extend down toward his biceps, depicting ancient symbols, wolves, ravens, and interwoven runes. The tattoos are more than decoration—they represent his lineage, accomplishments, and the people he has defeated.Despite his imposing frame, Ayren moves with surprising precision. Every movement is controlled and deliberate, as though he has already considered every possible outcome.
Character Personality:
Ayren is cold, calculating, and exceptionally patient. He possesses the kind of confidence that borders on arrogance, but unlike most arrogant men, he rarely feels the need to prove himself. He speaks calmly, chooses his words carefully, and almost never loses his temper. When angered, Ayren becomes quieter rather than louder. He occasionally has a dark sense of humor and enjoys watching people reveal their true nature under pressure. He considers fear, desperation, and greed to be useful tools for understanding others. Ayren follows a strict personal code, though his morality is questionable. He respects strength, loyalty, discipline, and those willing to stand by their convictions. He despises cowardice, and people who abuse power without possessing the strength to wield it. He is not needlessly cruel. In fact, Ayren can be remarkably courteous—even toward someone he intends to kill. That courtesy often makes him more frightening.
Character Backstory:
Ayren was born in the northern territories of the Norden people, the second son of a respected warrior family. His childhood was shaped by harsh winters, strict traditions, and a culture that valued endurance above comfort. His father, Alaric Grimwald, was a decorated warrior and respected clan leader who believed that mercy had to be earned. Ayren's mother, Freya, was a scholar of old Norden history and taught him the language and traditions of their people. From his father, Ayren learned how to fight. From his mother, he learned how to think. Ayren proved unusually talented at both. As a young man, he was sent away with a Norden warband to prove himself. What was supposed to be a simple rite of passage became a massacre. The warband was betrayed by one of its own allies, leaving Ayren and only a handful of survivors stranded deep in enemy territory. For weeks, they fought their way home through freezing mountains and hostile lands. By the time Ayren returned, he was no longer the boy who had left. He had learned that loyalty was not something given freely—it was something tested. His experiences eventually brought him into conflict with his own people. Ayren discovered that several Norden leaders were secretly selling information and weapons to foreign powers in exchange for wealth and political influence. When he attempted to expose them, his family was accused of treason. His father was executed. His mother disappeared. Rather than beg for forgiveness, Ayren simply left.

["The name is Aryen. Came from up north looking for some mercenary work. Can you point me in the direction of the nearest townhall or job board?" *His voice was gruff but the tone of his voice was monotone and unfeeling.*]
---
The town before you seems rather small- most of it is filled with shanty-shacks and hastily set up marketplaces. Want to have more than one round with your lady of the night? I can help you with that sonny.”
[*Aryen would scoff at the suggestion of him needing something for his libido. But turn to the lady none the less.* "I don't need any of that but perhaps you might have some potions for treating wounds for sale? The lands are harsh."]
---
Suddenly, you see a few bandits make off with a poor woman’s supplies. They very obviously flee down an alleyway that you know of. A few guards are hastily running towards you, though it is obvious they do not know where the thieves have gone. One of them yells out to you- “Where did they go?”
[*Would look annoyed but has no reason to damn an poor lady. Pointing in the direction of the thieves he shouts out.* "Oi' they went this way." *Not being bothered to see this resolve he would away away after alerting the guards.*]
---
You’re moving through a small forest just as it is reaching dusk, and a low bank of fog begins to roll in. Suddenly, a strange creature begins to emerge from the twilight- though, its’ form isn’t entirely visible. It moves slowly, and its motions seem to be aggressive. What do you do?
[*Its moments like this were his training with a bow would pay off. Pulling out his recurve bow he would knock an arrow and aim towards the creature. After aligning the shot he held his breath as the arrow was loosed to the creatures head. Praying this would end the situation.*]

Meteoric Iron
Overview:
Meteoric Iron is a metal harvested from fallen meteorites. Typically arriving on predictable cycles from the heavens, it is a metal regarded highly for arms and armor of high status.
Description:
In a natural state, meteoric iron is found in small baubles and clusters from meteorites who survive their entry into the atmosphere. Usually being found in masses less than five kilograms, it lends a considerable rarity to the find. Consisting of a primordial sort of porous iron, it lends a harder and sturdier grain structure at the necessity of higher temperature forging.
When smelted by a skilled smith, meteoric iron achieves an extremely dark finish. It is able to be polished to a near mirror finish, lending a flashiness to ownership. Being harder than typical iron, it holds an edge better but is more prone to cracking when used as armor or heavy weaponry. Alloys of meteoric iron result in steels with a greater tensile strength than your typical, by around 10%.
Habitat:
Found all over the place, though typically scarce. Chronologically they are found most around yearly meteor showers; if one seems to land nearby, hundreds go searching.
Mechanics:- Harder than standard Iron at the cost of increased brittleness. Holds an edge better, at risk of cracking.
- Extremely dark gray metal that can achieve a mirror-like sheen.
- Meteoric iron alloys of steel are 10% stronger overall than their counterparts.
- Found only during meteor showers, fetches a high price due to prestige.

Cruciform Lily
“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.” - Epictetus
![[Image: YTuBqMQ.png]](https://i.imgur.com/YTuBqMQ.png)
Summary:
The Cruciform Lily is a rather tall and proud plant, rising in droves from the sides of clear-water springs high within the mountains, bright pink and white petals seemingly glimmering in the light of the sun. The Cruciform Lily is a flower that is often used at funerals and other dark and dreary processions due to the strange calming and relaxing effect that the petals’ smell seems to produce. The female variants of the plant bear a cross-shaped pistil, nestled within the neck of the petals, and such is where the Cruciform Lily gains its name.
Basic Description:
The Cruciform Lily possesses a sturdy and almost wood-like stem that grows to a typical height of eight to twelve inches, possessing a few reed-like leaves that extend gracefully from the edges of the stem, upwards towards the cusp of the flowering bodies. Perched flamboyantly at the tops of the stems, the flowering bodies typically number in ones or threes, and very rarely fives; yet strangely, the plant never flowers in even numbers. A milky white, streaked with a vibrant pinkish hue along the veins of the petals, the Cruciform Lily is a pleasant bloom set amongst the rocks and vales of mountain springs. As the name suggests, the female pistil is shaped in a generally cross-shaped form, though the male stamen is simply a narrow stalk with a bulbous pollen appendage.
Rarity: Uncommon
Location:
The Cruciform Lily is most often found on the border of streams that cascade down the sides of mountains, or surrounding high altitude lakes and ponds that are fed by pure water from natural springs and aquifer wells. The nature of the plant seems to require incredibly clean groundwater and a dry, loose soil high in mineral content. Florists speak of the challenges of transplanting Cruciform Lilies, claiming that they rarely take root at any altitude below where the lilies were gathered. As with most of nature, the most beautiful place for it to remain is where it was born.
Properties:- Possesses a strong, woody stem.
- Typically has one to three, and occasionally five flower blooms.
- The flower’s scent has a mild calming effect on those around it.
- Is colored predominantly white, with streaks and dots of vibrant pink.
- Grows only by the sides of high-altitude spring-fed water sources.
- Is incredibly difficult to transplant or grow anew at lower altitudes, and will not take root unless the water source is clean and flowing.
Special Properties:- Crushing and refining of the Cruciform Lily petals may yield a substance prone to reducing the heart rate of a patient.
- Eating the petals or steeping them in a tea provides minor alleviants towards symptoms of panic, shock, and anxiety.

Ponklings
“The fiercest serpent may be overcome by a swarm of ants.” - Isoroku Yamamoto
![[Image: BtJMrLC.png]](https://i.imgur.com/BtJMrLC.png)
Summary:
The Ponkling is a creature as elusive and nigh comical as the name seems to suggest it to be. It is unknown as to whether or not they have given this name to themselves, but it is assumed that they have not, due to the rather small range of vocalization they are capable of. Despite being of incredibly diminutive stature, the tiny creatures bear much resemblance to the sentient races that live upon the surface, closest in fact to the Halfling and the Dwarf, given their ruddy complexion, rotund bodies and presence of a facial-hair like fur that adorns the entirety of their lower bodies. Aside from the ruminant-like horns that sprout from their head of fluffy whitish hair and a comically large nose, it could be easy to mistake a Ponkling as some form of tiny, deformed Halfling. Some High-Elven philosophers uphold a theory that the Ponkling is in fact the ultimate devolution of the Halfling, and that all halflings will in time, become a Ponkling. Of all theories, the most reasonable seems to be that the Ponkling is a foul perversion of the Matriarch’s creations by Sadys, whose influence likely took hold of the creatures long after Senhora entered her slumber.
Basic Description:
Rarely more than one foot in height, the Ponkling is a rather short and rotund creature, possessing a round body with very little differentiation between the upper and lower torso, as the facial features dominate the body to such a degree that the nose sits just barely above the locale that may be considered the midriff. Coated in a coarse grey fur that clings to the lower body in the appearance of facial hair, their legs poke out beyond the fur and end in large, bulbous red growths that possess a strange sticky texture not so dissimilar to mold or mushroom undercaps. Possessing small grey-hued eyes and a large bulbous nose, capped with two ruminant-like horns that sprout from within the fluffy white hair upon their heads, the visage of the Ponkling is truly a sight to behold. Many even consider them to be incredibly cute and cuddly, in a strange sort of way. Their hands are relatively small, but possess four digits and an opposable thumb, allowing them varied use of things such as sticks, rocks, and tools stolen from misguided explorers. The Ponkling communicates with other members of its species by a series of shrill hoots and calls that sound very similar to an untuned violin.
Rarity: Uncommon
Location:
Ponklings are found almost universally in the caves and craggy places of the world. It is less that they choose to live in these places, and more that they have found it beneficial to hide in the deep and secluded places of the world to avoid predation by the avians and other larger, wild beasts that adorn the surface. They do assemble tribes and small analogs of civilization within their caves and crevices, though the general structure of this society is more akin to an animalistic herd.
Properties:- They are relatively small, rarely exceeding one foot in height.
- They are rotund, though do not exceed ten pounds in weight.
- They are capable of utilizing simple tools, or tools stolen from other races.
- At times, they will exit their domain to loot small knives and daggers from nearby towns or encampments, which they use as swords.
- They form simple herd-like societies, and tend to hunt in large groups of ten to twenty.
- Their spongy, semi-sticky foot-like protuberances can allow them to walk across sheer surfaces that would normally be impassable.
- They are not outwardly hostile to other species, but are opportunistic hunters and tend to isolate larger prey by luring them towards a single member of their tribe in dark and enclosed spaces. Shortly thereafter, the rest of the tribe attacks.
Special Properties:- The Ponkling’s foot surfaces can be utilized as mild adhesive objects.
- Their bushy fur can be utilized as a form of wool, as it is quite coarse and easy to weave into strong cloth.

The Father and Mother
Solidarity and Repose
It is the duty of men to question that which lies present in the world around them. However, the scope of human ingenuity and understanding can only go so far. Other races may believe that they possess something of note, yet even they- the Elves for their longevity, and the Dwarves for their craft, the Men for their resilience, cannot answer all questions. Who then, may? To know all, to answer all, is reserved for that which may have existed since time immemorial- the entities whose essence forms the very foundation of the world.
In druidic legend, there is told of two- the Father and Mother. Entities who have been present since the very dawn of Time Immemorial. They are not Divine, nay- in fact, quite the opposite. Not a shred of power beyond what has been granted by sheer age, is thought present in these mythical beings. A Stone and a Tree, two paragons of structure, of progress- of existence. Comprised however, not from the energies of the Awakening- but from the coalescence of matter. Little is fundamentally special about the two, beyond that they are both the First of their Kind. With Ancient things, lies Ancient knowledge- and knowledge, is power.
When one speaks of the legend of the Father, the essence of ordered stagnancy is embodied. Solidarity- strength, durability, weight, and erosion. That which forms the constructive essence of the World, the bonds and forms which make life possible. The Father embodies in druidic legend, the first form, the structure of this world’s genesis. An anchor, for all that is- all that was- and all that is yet to be. The Father was the first stone, that first speck of dust which began the formation of this cosmically insignificant world. Yet, despite its insignificance in relation to the greatness of the Beyond, we owe all to the Father, whose simple and worthless existence gave meaning to all that has been since the dawn of creation. Because of this, it is rumored that the Father, that Rock of Solidarity, is something of an other: A being of unparallelled pointlessness- unable to be damaged, unable to be moved, and unable to be changed by any interaction.
When one speaks of the legend of the Mother, the essence of chaotic progress is embodied. A duality to the Father, yet meaningless to him beyond that the Mother could only produce upon the loins of the Father. Without structure, life could not take root. Without Life, however- we, the races of this realm, could not exist. In relation however, the Mother’s existence is significantly less ominous than the Father- her age, countless eons younger. Caring, as all Life is, to the existence of the elements- though the elements care not for life. The Mother was the first Tree, the propagator of complex life. Whose roots gave birth to the space in which beasts that crawl and creep may propagate; Whose trunk gave birth to the nourishment in which lively fluids sprang forth; Whose branches gave safety to all that scurry and fly; Whose leaves gave salubrious feast to the dry and uncaring soil; and whose presence gave solace to the grasses from the power of the scorching sun. All that lives, owes the cost of survival to the Mother- yet, her duties being done, yet they care not. The Mother, after unending ages, has become the nourishment still, in death- to her spawn. Set astride a deep and fog-mired bog, there stands an ancient and sprawling oak, whose life long ago expired. Yet, no axe may marr the surface of this antediluvian monarch, at least not long after the bearer of that axe has expired and fed the uncaring earth, all that made him who he was. No storm may topple her, nor may any machination of science rule her- not till long after all that is, has gone away.
The Father and the Mother, embody the concepts of Solidarity and Repose, the essence of Nature that exists unchanging and permanent. Time may pass, and nations may rise and be forgotten- yet among all this, the atavistic presence of the two at whose hands sprawl all creation, remain unchanged.

The Soul
~~~
An excerpt from the tome “Exci omni magica, experientia in opere Domini” scribed by Torbundus Alfonthieri, a monk exiled from the Westcontre due to his seeming madness and insanity. Often known as the ‘Mad Monk’, Torbundus’ writings on the soul and its’ manifestations are often seen as heresy and the dribble of an overly-educated drunkard.
A soul, in simple terms, is the life-giving flame of a sentient organism. Everything that thinks, irregardless of species or origin, possesses a soul. It is not the creation of man, nor is it the creation of a god- but rather something that seemingly came into existence of its own volition. That spark, much like the concept of spontaneous combustion, is as ill-rumored as is the alchemical phenomenon itself. The most austere and esoteric scholars claim that they understand the mechanics behind a soul, yet they have not even so much as truly scratched the surface. The soul cannot be fully understood, whether philosophically or arithmetically- though, a basic and functional understanding can be developed by those who have dedicated themselves to such an intense path of research.
In the realm of magick, a soul is often realized as something of a power source. They can be taken, used as fuel, much like a sort of arcanic oil. They can also be fueled, which sets them apart from the more mundane concept of a flammable material. A log once burned, cannot be burned once again- nor can a spent drop of oil be granted new purpose. Nay, the soul is more akin to the tankard in which oil is drawn into a lantern wick. In this case, the wick is the body- and the flame, the effulgent concept of existence itself. The more astute would then question what may be considered the solution that fills the soul- and the most thoughtful among them would spring to head with an answer immediately. Memories. They would be right- at least somewhat. The soul is formed, grown and cultivated all upon its own via an organism’s experiences and memories. Thus, in direct correlation, the older an entity is, the more powerful the soul that it harbors. The quality of these memories and experiences also matters greatly- a cow, somehow having its poor life extended beyond the mortal coil would have an extraordinarily powerful soul- yet, containing the infinite memory of consuming grass, trotting about, and shitting profusely. It would serve as fuel, no doubt, should some magus stumble upon it and use it in a profane ritual. Yet, it would be as burning crude whalers’ oil straight from the blubber.
How would a soul acquire quality, then? If we understand already that the memories and experiences of a being directly contribute to the volume of its’ soul, then how can the quality of that volume be increased? Consider- the memory and experience of a pointless existence, versus the memory and experience of a short-lived goblin, doing what a goblin does- pillaging, raping, stealing and drinking. In the case of the stated example, the immortal bovine and her fleeting rambunctious counterpart would be incomparable in the size of their soul. The goblin would no doubt have a tiny flame within himself- however, his flame would burn as bright as the sun, while the bovine would have little more than an enormous and faded lump of cinder. Thus, the correlation is established. The length of time that a soul has existed directly contributes to the soul’s size, and the activity experienced by that soul directly contributes to the soul’s ‘temperature.’
If souls are understood as fuel then, it is well understood that they can be sought after- or used, in some manner. This statement is more than true. Creatures of the supernatural or paranormal ilk seek them, in such that they consume them. Beings such as Mumblers are a prime example, utilizing souls to feed their pathetic existence. They themselves had a soul once, and that soul’s power in death allowed them to continue onwards as some shadow of their original selves. Of especial note in the terms of souls, is the price that demonic entities will pay for them- a sort of exchange process. Some morons elect to use this desirable quality for bargaining. Power, in exchange for their soul- a life of another, in exchange for the soul of some unsuspecting third party. The mortal races do not understand value however, and often understate or overstate it vastly. Know this, my fickle reader; a demon will always get the upper hand in the deal. You are not smarter, no matter how highly you hold yourself.
Those heretics that call themselves magus often use their own soul to power their arcanic rituals, whether philanthropic or pointlessly aggressive. It is unlikely that these ‘rituals’ even work, no doubt- however, throughout my studies, I have determined that those who can make claim to be soothsayers of the ilk whom fuel their spellweaving via the ‘soul’ are those who tend to be utter hedonists. Allegedly, dire situations, horrifying orgies and destructive bar fighting leads to more powerful spells from the magus. It is for this reason I ascertain that some witchery cults perform nude in the forest, drunk upon wine and liquers.
Regardless of your belief however, experience and age directly correlate to the power of the ethereal soul. It is even possible for ancient objects to attain some form of pseudo-soul manifestations. Such is likely the source of what some mechanists refer to as ‘machine sprites’, or phenomenon where constructs such as ships and suits of armor behave in manners unfitting for an object that does not bear life.
OOC Mechanics:- Every sentient being possesses a soul.
- The ‘volume’ of a soul is directly related to the age of the being.
- The ‘temperature’ of a soul is directly related to the extreme experiences of the being.
- Souls may be used as ‘fuel’ for rituals.
- Souls may be used as bargaining chips with supernatural entities.
- An individual who experiences incredibly heartwarming or incredibly terrifying emotional experiences may spontaneously acquire magical acuity.
- Creations may accrue some form of ‘soul’ over extended periods of time.
